Basic develop module in LR4. How does image rendering really work ?

Hello there,

I've been quite a hardcore LR3 user, mainly for timelapse purpose. I was quite at ease with LR3 develop module, despite some more or less overlapping features.

Fill light and recovery are great for photo, but not for timelapse, as filters seem to be based on image content, meaning they can (and do) create flicker on a sequence.

So I've quickly learned not to use them, unless really necessary.

I've recently switched to LR4 and its new 2012 imaging tech. Develop module seems really simplier, but I feel the need to know how module works under the hood, how settings affect image rendering.

What are settings based on image content ? Or is the whole develop module based on image analysis ? Is LR4 module can be used for timelapse ? I mean can I avoid using any content based setting ?

Or should I switch back to 2010 process ?

Thanks for any help,

Regards,

David
